Ultra Modern House Ceiling Pictures

Your ceiling is an important part of the house. In addition to housing your lighting fixtures and fans, ceilings have now become works of art in which homeowners invest thousands of dollars to make sure they stand out. Modern house ceiling pictures show that ceilings can be made from a number of different materials.
Here’s a look at some of the various types of roofs you are likely to see in modern house ceiling pictures, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of some of these ceilings.
1. Ceilings made of plywood are among the least expensive to erect. The plywood sizes typically range in thickness from about 3 mm to 5 mm. One of the biggest advantages in using plywood is that is easy to install, and requires little or no skill. The main disadvantage of these types of ceilings is that they are susceptible to water damage and termites.
2. Ceilings made of gypsum have largely replaced plywood ceilings. Gypsum is versatile and can be creatively used to make interesting artwork. Like plywood, gypsum is vulnerable to water and will result in unsightly water marks.
3. An asbestos ceiling is made from a mixture of several minerals that are combined and used for roofs. The minerals are often combined and made into square tiles that are then fitted together to create the ceiling. The tiles are especially common in large office buildings requiring access to cables that are usually run in the ceiling. In homes, the ceiling is usually one solid mass that has been cemented together. The benefit of using asbestos ceilings is that they help to keep the room cool; however, asbestos is said to be very dangerous. When the tiny flakes of asbestos are inhaled over an extended period of time, they are said to cause lung disease and cancer. As a result, asbestos is banned in many countries because of its harmful fibers.
4. Ceilings can also be made form PVC plastic. Such ceilings are resistant to water, but are much more expensive than some of the other alternatives, and are often seen in modern house ceiling pictures.
5. Mixing gypsum and plywood is done by some builders. This mixture is water resistant to a point, but is fragile and requires special skills for installation.
